Batuan Temple
🛕 Batuan Temple – Spiritual Heritage and Ancient Balinese Architecture
Located in Batuan Village, Gianyar, Batuan Temple (also known as Puseh Batuan Temple) is one of the oldest temples in Bali, founded in 944 Isaka (around 1020 AD). This temple is part of the Tri Kahyangan concept introduced by Mpu Kuturan in the 10th century, which includes three main temples: Pura Desa (to worship the God Brahma), Pura Puseh (God Vishnu), and Pura Dalem (God Shiva).
Batuan Temple is famous for its stunning classical Balinese architecture, including split gates (candi bentar), intricate stone carvings, and thatched roofs made of black palm fiber. As a cultural heritage, this temple exudes a strong spiritual aura and is a silent witness to the historical journey and religious traditions of the Balinese people.
